yeah that's true, or could even be said that if cordy was getting them she prob wouldn't have said anything, but these all powerful beings would have found a way of contacting their champ if they really wanted to.

its up the staff(which I think needs to be addressed soon as to have some sorta secrecy to season arcs, IMO) but IMHO, I would not like to see Angel having a bunch of allies. if a main them this season is going to be things like loss and the repercussions of the deal they made with W&H, I dont think we should have one big happy family again. I see this season as being rather dark myself.
I also thought that towards the end of the season, Id love to see it boil down to just Angel and Spike being the only survivors, or whatever you wanna call em
and since this is "Angel" and whether or not the staff(again, Id love to be a part of the creative team ;D) decides for this to be the last season. Id even go a far as to say, depending on how the season's arcs and stories develop, let Spike leave an ep early; and have the last episode focus on Captain Forhead and only Captain Forehead

Yeah, Angel doesn't need a bunch of allies for this final good apocalypse but he does much better when he's not on his own - so I suggest keep the allies to a minimum and maybe even have Grace and the AlanTydyk character trade places every now and then as his ally.
And if we have the first episode splitting up the three survivors then there has to be a reason to get them back together as a team.

i know it may be a bit early to mention this, but if this is the final season has anyone given it any thought as to what may happen to Angel in the end? If the writers do go with the Fred/Illyria death then really we would just be left with the fang gang. Do they just keep fighting?

I think its safe to say that the original intent that Joss had for the series closer will remain the same -that the fight will always continue- but who will be around to fight the good fight and more importantly, how they fight will be drastically different from "Not Fade Away".

Now Doyle, I love(not like that) and I think you have some of the best ideas out here, but IMO, I just dont think we always have to follow the guidlines of what Joss "intended". Yes, we most certainley hafta stay true(and we will) to these characters, but also make it our own, without worrying about what may have been season 6

Yes, we most certainley hafta stay true(and we will) to these characters, but also make it our own, without worrying about what may have been season 6 Well, we've already gotten past all of what we know Joss had planned so I don't think it's an issue anymore. And to stay true to overall theme (to keep fighting) is nothing we should ever contest. I think, in the end, our season will look nothing like anything Joss Whedon would have come up with. I think at the end I would be happy to say: "We just wrote the worst season of Angel, and I'm damn proud of it." Because I have a feeling what we're doing is going to be good - I want to make it good - but are we professionals? Hardly - unless you are, in which case, that's cool. Anyway, I had a point in there somewhere. Reread and try to find it because I'm not summing up.

I think at the end I would be happy to say: "We just wrote the worst season of Angel, and I'm damn proud of it." Let's call the 6th best season instead. My hope is that by the end of the season Angel, Spike, and possibly Illyria and Grace, will have a chance to step back from the front lines of the battle. They'll continue the fight, but the battle will have moved beyond them as the side of good becomes something larger. The old heroes - be they vampires, gods, or powers - can finally step back and let the humans control their own fate. It's kind of like the finale of Buffy. You can still saves world, but now your not its only hope.

Dismas, in my eyes, that's perfect.
Ties in with the idea of showing the demons out there and that fighting the good fight is a never ending battle.
We aren't Joss and unless he himself signs up for this, all the ideas are the ones we kick around and write and frankly, I think the ideas so far are not only consistent with the characters and the moral of Angel, they're brilliant on their own.

I think a good way of thinking about this Good Apocalypse is that it won't end the Fight, it'll just make it a bit more bearable.

If I might be allowed to readdress the subject of Shanshu...
There are two problems with the idea of Angel signing away his part of the prophecy. First, if you notice the signature on the prophecy, it does not match the signature on his contract to take over Wolfram & Hart. This suggests that he willingly forged at least one of those sigs. What effect would that have on the legitimacy of said contracts?
The other problem is, both contracts were signed "Angel." Legally, wouldn't he need to sign with either his human name (Liam Something) or his vampire name (Angelus) in order for the contract to pass muster with the "Higher Courts?" After all, while he calls himself Angel now, it's more of a self-proclaimed alias than a legitimate name, sort of a muddy, middle-ground, compromise.
