I also like the name Grace. But, just to be on the safe side, we need a few more names options.
Perhaps once we know fully well what direction we are going to take with this character we will have an epiphany and find a name that is trully fitting.
But for now we can quit calling her "That Hellen Mirren-type character that we were thinking about and call her Grace".

Just had an idea for "Grace". I had mentioned that I'd like to see her as a former PTB, a banished Power. So basically she went against the other Powers and had Cordy give that last vision to Angel. Then, the Powers found out and just before they punish her, Grace realizes the only way she can continue to help Angel is if she comes down to his plane. But that's not easily done, even for a Power. So when she makes herself human, she forgets almost everything, except for the basics and for these strange feelings that she's lost something. And one of her last acts as a Power is to pull Angel & Co. out of the alley. It would work out better thematically if maybe she even stripped the other Powers of their Power so that she was the only one left, but then she comes down to Earth so basically there are no Powers left. This would contrast with Angel having bucked the evil system. Grace bucked the Good system. Now she has to deal with consequences of that, and Angel has to deal with the consequences of what he did. Also, I think a really cool first way to meet our heroes this season would be if Grace or that Prophecy Guy or whoever we want opens up a door to show us a bloody Illyria pulling a sword out of Angel, who has about four or five swords skewered through his body. Maybe Spike is on the floor holding one of his arms in his other hand. They can be reattached. See, they get pulled out of the battle, not before it starts, but a few minutes into it. And Illyria's shell should definitely be leaking yoke.

How about Pandora for "Grace".
The thinking here is that she essentially started all the chaos etc when she chose to send Angel the Black Thorn vision via Cordy - she opened a "Pandora's Box".
I think this teis in quite nicely espesially when you consider that the only thing left in Pandora's box was hope.

This may be dumb but can Illyria only morph into Fred or is she a full fledged shape-shifter? It could be revealed in quite a funny scene on the following lines: Spike and Illyria are talking on the street and mid sentence Spike stops talking and stares at a woman walking past . When spike looks back at Illyria she now looks like the woman: Illyria: I could easily conquer the world in forms such as this, the lust of men is such a weakness. Or something along those lines.

I think she can only change into Fred as she has Fred's essence inside of her, that is what the Shell use to look like. A part of her remains behind and when her soul re emerges Fred starts to take form once more.
