I think we're all overlooking the return of Connor. He could be the replacement for the male slayer.

I'd peg Connor for a possible guest role. He gets and has chosen to live a normal life now.

Something I think we've all wished for for a long time. Why not bring back Doyle since Cordy is gone. We could once again be our link to the powers that be since, I'm assuming, they no longer work for Wolfram & Hart. Just a suggestion. If you guys are talking about bringing Willow and Giles over for guest spots I say we have something where the scurge killing machine is locked up in some abandoned building. Suppose angels finds it somewhere why'll fighting some baddies. He remembers it (maybe a flahback sequence) and the NEW team figures out a way to use it for fighting the good fight but in the process they unleash demons from it spilling out Doyle. Sounds interesting to me if we could just flesh it out a bit more.

Once again, I have to express my feelings agains´t bringing characters back from the death. I prefer my deaths, especially the deaths that Joss and the original producers of the show designed and created. ONCE AGAIN, NOT INSULTING ANYONE, JUST SAYING MY OPINION. I APPRECIATE YOUR IDEAS!
Although, a character liason to the PTB is a pretty good idea. Someone like Lindsay in Soul Purpose thru You´re Welcome. An odd person that has visions, someone that is part of the team but not really part of the team.

I don't think it would be a good idea to bring back Doyle. He had a great ending, just let him go out like that.

Hi, new to the board, think it's a cool idea so I wanted to share one of my own....
I had this idea once, about a woman who had been asleep for a millenium - ok, I know it sounds corny but bear with me - This woman was the 12th slayer that had been chosen since the 3 spooky guys created the first slayer. She was born into a very spiritual tribe as the chief's daughter and was set to become the next "seer", until destiny called and she became the chosen one. But there were no watchers then and she was left alone to sort out what was happening to her, and her village being over run suddenly by demons. The villagers and her chief/father realized she was the cause and shunned her from the village. That night she met an immortal demon, not your ordinary run-of-the-mill-evil demon, but one who knew what she was and decided to help her become what she was, train her if you will, for his own reasons and agenda. Well, wouldn't you know it, they fall in love and that's when he shows her what he is - wait for it - he's a vampire. She knows her time on earth is short, cause everything evil wants to kill her, so she begs him to make her immortal so they can be together forever - he refuses, of course (could he have a soul?). So they travel in search of demons and apocolypses to avert, until they come across an isolated village (location to be determined later ). This village has old magic, and she finds the village medicine woman who claims she can make her immortal, without the fangs, but it will cost her. For three days she is holed up with this medicine woman, while in the meantime the villagers become suspicious of her travelling companion - yes, our trusty vampire-turned-watcher. On the third day, she emerges from the ritual on the cusp of sunrise to find her love chained to a rock on a temple. Yep, he's dusted. Well, because our gal had some magical ability at birth, which she gained more knowledge of the black and white arts through their travels, she unleashes terror on the village, decimating everything in her path, man woman and child, as well as the old medicine woman. She is now immortal, alone, and no longer a slayer, and without the knowledge of the magic that can reverse what was done to her. So, what does she do? What anyone in her position would do - go find some demons and apocolypses. However, our gal is tainted - she has experienced power and rage and committed unspeakable acts of terror, but has also tried to do right, through millenia after millenia, until the 12th century. She is tired. She has spent most of the last 5000 years trying to find a way to die, learning any magic that might lead her to her demise. Through this she has become extremely powerful. She learned of a light, said to destroy and consume anything that touches it. So she finds this light and jumps into it, certain this will end her painfully prolonged existence - except the opposite happens, she absorbs the light instead. Defeated, she lays down in the cavern that had contained the light since the time of the ancient ones, and sleeps.
2004 - She is awoken, by who, who knows, but she is walking in a strange time with too much power for the earth to contain. She finds a stone that she imbues most of her power into, which settles things for a while, but leaves her weakened. She finds her way to LA, and immediately finds herself in trouble - there is a war going on in an alley, with a dragon flying around, and something she hasn't seen since she was a slayer - an ensouled vampire(s).
Don't know if I would see her as a main character, but maybe a recurring one.

Okay, howzabout bringing Sirk back? Sure he was working with Lindsey and Eve, but we never got much out of his character and he had a great presence on screen. I think he could be worked into the story, possibly as suggested as the arcane character with a dark past.
Okay and now for my really off the wall suggestion from Buffy...maybe Riley? it could be fun having 3 of Buffy's old boyfriends having to work together and it would be fun to watch Angel and Spike "bond" over a mutual adversary in this way lol. This could work as a guest appearance type thing and not as a full blown cast member.
EDIT: wanted to mention, going with the whole "where do we go from here" theme, that maybe Groo would be a prime candidate for additonal cast. I know he's already been brought up here, but I think taking that theme into consideration may help his chances since with Cordy gone, he really has no place in the show....so a perfect time to put him back in.

on the subject of the Book-ish character ... how about the person Lindsey went to for all the secrets of Wolfram & Hart. Someone with that information definately did some Evil acts to get low enough on the Grand totum of evil to have to avoid the Senior Partners (the enchanted tattoos and grafiti in Eve/Lindsey's hovel, no doubt, being the tip of the dark iceberg).
playing with the idea of the Senior Partners wanting the Circle of the Black Thorn out of the way ... the Wolf Ram and Hart coming into this dimension, would be the perfect opportunity for him to come in fighting with Angel and crew.
Not as a subordinate ... he has his reasons for wanting the Senior Partners destroyed ... and at odds with Angel because he doesn't put all the cards on the table.
***Vague as several chaotic hells, but it's my 2 cents

I agree about letting people who are dead stay dead.
I would hate to see Groo come back. I did not like his character at all. Of course, much of that may have been the actor - he gave me the heebie jeebies - and not in a good way.
I'm on board with a slayer or two (even Faith and new boy-toy Robin because of her attachment to Angel), and even Oz (he does have a musical career to keep him busy in L.A.), but I can't see any others from Buffy coming over as recurring characters. I love them, but it then becomes the Buffy/Angel show. New blood is needed to flesh out the new crew.
And new digs! Or are we assuming their all going back to the hotel? I guess there's definately room - especially when looking at how long the cast of characters is getting.

In the end the group was coming apart at the seams the only thing holding them together was this big fight with the Partners. So I wouldn't assume that they are the best of friends after the fight. Thus having Spike drinking alone in a bar to start us off this season. New digs definitly but I'm drawing a blank on that one.

some ideas/suggestions...
1. Groo wouldn't work cuz he had that whole world to try and govern, altho maybe he figured soemthing out when he came back and hung out with Cor, but i'm pretty sure he'd have no reason to come back, unless someone can think of one
2. the unassuming man with arcane knowledge and a dark past just sounds so much like Giles/Wes, and a million other characters populating the joss-verse so if used, it might be a good character to twist---maybe make them not good in the end or a more irritating sort of person, like Ethan Rayne, so you just wanna punch him but he's still ipmortant to the group
3. i think Fred would be important to a new season, if only as a shadow, like Cor was sort of a shadow over this season---i think the her being part of Illyria is a good idea ESPECIALLY cuz of the scene no one's mentioning in UNDERNEATHE, where she told Wes in a dream that there were so many layers to her, didn't he want to go deeper? or soemthing like that---it would only make sense to use that foreshadowing in this new season
4. NINA!, i mean, come one, she was in bed with the title character, plus she's blond, Angel's type
5. What ever happened to that Gwen chick?
6. Doyle could be useful as a topic for an episode, maybe try to bring him back but it fails---there's just too many successful attempts at spells in the buff/angel mythos----let's see some failure!! at least, Doyle could be soemthing to harken back to, maybe use to compare to a present member of the team
7. one idea for new characters....maybe not white Americans?--even tho it's CA, it seems as though there would be demons and such in other countries----maybe that's what brings the team back together...soemone from somewhere else needs their help...just when they thought they'd finished the job..... it might also be cool to bring in a normal human being, maybe someone fighting the good fight, maybe the person who needs their help(the one who might bring them back together...)
sorry to blather on...

WHERES MY PASSWORD? ? ? Bringing over buffy characters just for the sake of doing it is retarded, people. it has to MAKE SENSE OZ-doesnt make sense. hes gone. he has NO ties to Angel, could care less about Spike and dont know anyone else. Faith- shes not a team player. maybe a guest Wesley-dead Doyle-dead Cordy-dead Connor-he made his choice Dont even think about them, people! Xander-is pretty consistent with his view- even a vamp w/ a soul is still a vamp, and he dont like them. Giles & Willow- Leave them in London, m'kay? Gwen- there ya go She has a tie of sorts with Gunn, and perhaps a few episodes in, something(wel-contribed, of course) could bring her in. aside from her, IMO, Id say leave everyone else out. Lets not get all christmas morning crazy here just cuz this is fanfic. whenever working out ideas, you hafta constantly ask yourself "does this make sense? would this work?" And alot of these characters, just dont work Now aside from Gwen, I would say maybe develop an entirely original character or 2, but besides, you already have four main characters that need to be fleshed out first b4 anything else happens. PuppetCancer, I fully agree. Especially regarding Xander, he's always hated Angel. And the only way I could see Willow joining the cast was if Fred came back. She was the only one who had anything in common with Willow.
I really, really love the idea of bringing Gwen back, that'd be fabulous. But I think Gwen or Faith, but not both. I'm all for having more ladies, but two badass chicks with superpowers is a little overkill.
I'm really big on bringing back Lilah, though. I know she did have the standard perpetuity clause, so she's technically not "dead." She'd be very useful - not necessarily as a Big Bad, but as a sort of uneasy ally. I don't know if she could completely fill the role of finding knowledge, but when we last saw her she seemed to have her thumb fairly close to the pulse of the underworld. Hmm?
Regarding Fred, and "Mister Whedon"'s (is there something else I can call you? It's confusing.) thoughts on the subject: don't shout. I know you're king of the board and whatever, but there's some wiggle room. First of all:
A. The show made it pretty clear that Fred´s soul was anihilated. They actually didn't. If you go ahead and re-watch "Shells," you'll find that the evil doctor who had a reasonably vested interest in not returning Fred to her body, told Wesley that her soul had been annhilated. Wesley automatically assumed this was fact and told Angel, but it's never actually been tested. We could at least explore that option.
Just having Willow show up and return Fred to life is simply too easy a solution for me. Well, I'm sure we can complicate it a little. What if she returned not because they were actually trying to bring her back, but by accident? A botched spell, or something - in the S5 BtVS episode where they split Xander, somebody could use a device like that to split Illyria, and produce Fred as her human half. (This could also give her back her powers, if we wanted to do that.)
Regarding the idea of the male slayer. I violently dislike it. Firstly, I don't really think we need to add more male cast members, "Angel" was pretty testosterone-heavy as is. Secondly, there are better ways to give a guy superpowers than sullying the whole slayer mythology.

Angel sent Nina away and who's to say she didn't meet Oz elsewhere that could be the way we get them both back. I mean it's a matter of time until she tries to find out more about her werewolf side. Maybe she tries to learn and is pointed in the direction of Oz. I mean Joss did say he wanted to bring back Oz and have him help Nina. Illyria... It's true since Wes is dead why would she stick around? This might be touchy but things can be done to keep her there.

Illyria and Spike were doing a little bonding. Besides, and this is really the better question: where else would she go? Angel and his group are the only ties she has to this world.

yeah she could stick with spike becasue I don't think angel really wanted her around to begin with. If we aree talking about spitting angel and angelus I don't think wee should split Illyria and Fred. Simply make Fred's memories and Fred's manmerisms gradually come to the surface.
