love the idea of chaos just really hope it doesn't look like the end of season 4 after the happiness ended with people just running up and down the streets, didn't think that was really effective seeing as by the next episode there was enough people shopping for Conner to take hostage. Just my thought that if it is done right it could be really good. People will prob hate this idea but I thought the very opening of the remake of Dawn of the Dead showed chaos quite well, up to the opening credits anyway... know most ppl will disagree...

Lets face it the world is is chaos all the time, but its a sort of stable chaos- a chaos at equilibrium if you will. Now the PTB have always had to except that because quite frankly they are not allowed to interfere directly in the evolution/destiny of humankind. Sort of like the prime directive . They have in the past settled for an indirect form of "control"; like stopping the apocolypse with the aid of a few well placed visions and a hero. Now they have more power. So they force /calm/stability on the world. And things are getting beter. Wars are stopping, racism is dissapearing, people a getting on better with each other, ... However heres the problem. Chaos will always exist in one form or another, its a kind of energy. So the chaos that is leaving the world is going into peoples minds. As things appear to get better and better with the world, peoples subconscious is getting cluttered up until the mind cant take it any more and goes into a sort of coma. This would probably effect kids and old people first. Now Alan, who is genually good and works for the powers, gets the team to go after demon after demon ( The powers can control humans but not Demons ). The team thinks they have sort of won. The world is a better place on the surface and they are so busy demon hunting they dont have time to notice the growing number of comas around the world. ( Perhaps we could show a snippet of a news broadcast every now and then ). Enter Grace. She knows what is going on and knows the powers must be stopped by releasing more evil in the world. In order to balance the scales the Order of the Black Thorn needs to be reformed. Now correct me if im wrong but dont WRH contract last forever, even after death if my memory serves. So technically Angel still works for them. The Demons for the new order need to come from another dimension one at a time and Angel needs to protect them until they all get there and there full power is reached. The PTB really dont like this and now go against Anglel and co. This could be a good entrance place for the new Groo gang with Alan as their handler.

The "stability" that we are having the PTB promote isn't one that makes the world a better place. The stability they promote is one between good and evil. They keep these forces balanced. They keep the fight going. They don't try to stop evil. Sometimes they use it for their advantage. That's what this season will be about. And it will be up to Angel and Grace to finally step in and say "No, we're gonna try and make things better. We're going to try and make things a little more bearable down here."

They are going to make it easier to keep fighting the good fight, which is key to the Jossverse.
I have one question, though - how are we going to actually show the imbalance? Is this what the stories of cults (great idea, that) and the power struggle between Grace and Tobit show? Frankly I see the struggle between Grace and Tobit as a really mystical, wierd thing - like when Illyria was time traveling, that kind of wierdness.
Let the flaming of my ideas commence!

If I might be allowed to steer things a little sideways...
I was thinking about this whole idea of "balance," of bringing order to chaos, etc. etc., and then my fanboy sense started to tingle.
I'm not sure what you guys think of the idea of former Buffy players entering the mix, but I think Oz would actually be a nice choice, for at least a one-shot.
He's the embodiment, the very example of "balance." He fought hard to gain control of his darker side, and for the most part, won. But, as is the theme with this series, he continues the battle because he must.
Just a thought.

The PTB really dont like this and now go against Anglel and co. This could be a good entrance place for the new Groo gang with Alan as their handler. I think we've been planning kind of the opposite. It's the Powers that are seeking to restore balance, so they'd be the one's who'd encourage a new Circle of the Black Thorn. Angel and Grace would oppose. I like the ideas of chaos being pushed in new directions, but I'm less thrilled about comas. They sound like the opposite of chaos. Perhaps the Powers will encourage the chaos and evil to take on a new form as they manipulate Angel to confront the demons unleashed at the end of S5. That way they restore stability by stopping the immediate demon threat while subtely restoring balance by reestablishing evil. (*cough* WR&H in a new form *cough*) I hope I'm not trashing your ideas or anything, because I'm excited to see new posters like you and ThePowersThatBe giving us some fresh ideas.
