I don't know if the "Powers That Be" would like me posting this here. Nor do I know how many people know this already. But I just felt I had to spread the knews to my fellow Angel fans. It's not going to be on TV, nor will it be in the movies. But I just found out that IDW has hired a writer to do a series of Angel comic books that take place after "Not Fade Away". He's getting direct input from Joss Whedon himself, so chances are this is the direction Joss was heading with the show. The comic mini series won't take place 'directly' after the finale, but there will be flashback scenes explaining what happened in the alley, and who survived. And here's a plus for anyone who misses Gunn, Wess, or Fred... The writer has been given the go ahead to use any, and all, characters from the show. ;D
The comic book debuts in June. Myself, I am very excited. As soon as I get to my comic book dealer, I'm having him reserve me a copy.
Oh, I almost forgot. This first mini series (titled Angel: The Curse, which lasts 5 issues long) will not be the last. There are others being planned. IDW is hoping to make a regular series out of Angel. ;D ;D ;D

hmmmm I dunno, I've found that comic book adaptations of TV can be kind of a mixed bag. On one hand, it's cool to see new adventures of your fave characters, on the other hand, the art direction for these projects rarely jibes with that of the show which can make for a very jarring experience.
A good example is Dark Horse's Buffy comics. The main series books feel weirdly out of place, and are mostly written by olde thyme comic writers. The "Tales of the Slayer" series, however, is excellent because a)the stories take place in different locations and times, and thus are not crippled by the style change, and b)are written by people who either wrote or starred on the show.

I don't know if the "Powers That Be" would like me posting this here. lol, when I first read this I thought that you meant that PTB the person would be displeased, not us the producers. ;D ;D Anyway, this 'ought to be interesting. Comic books I've found to be a real hit and miss for me, very heavy on the miss side. I guess that my main problem with them is that I find that most writers tell a story that either doesn't apeal to me or isn't told in a way that I like (whoa, the pretnetious alarm just went off in my head). So I'm a bit anxious about the fact that a comic book writers will be the one that continues the story. I think that this would be the best. Someone who at least knows how the show worked. I hope that this isn't another one of those projects that gets permanetly put on hold *cough*Ripper*cough*Animated Buffy*cough*. Any continuation of Angel is a good thing on my book. I'll check it out if I can, comic books are pretty rare down here. Thanks for the tip Stingray

Actually, the guy they picked to write the comics isn't a comic strip writer at all. His name is Jeff Somthingorother, and he's written the majority of the Angel novels out there. I've read a couple of the novels, and they are very, very good. This is one of the main reasons that I am so excited. Because if this guy can write Angel into a comic book half as good as he does a novel, then the series is going to be G-R-E-A-T great.

I don't know if a comic is the best way to go here. I have a couple of the Angel comics and they aren't the best in the world. I would prefer a novel to a comic. I have almost all of the Angel novels and to me I feel that the novels are just exta shows, but the comics are done so poorly in my opinion that it doesn't even feel like it's anything Angel. I don't know maybe because Joss is writing it they might be better but I doubt it.

wow i used to read comics, namely ghost rider and blaze of vengeance. but the idea of continueing angel as a miniseries of graphic novels or comics is a somewhat interesting idea, that i hope will come into full fruition, still one hopes as always that angel will continue on the small screen or a movie and give us some relief as to what happens next after the big battle and beyond and if indeed angel gets his soul for good and retires from battling evil and wheather or not Illyria opens a swimsuit shop (well she is kinda sexy, although blue) and if spike and buffy meet up and she finds out he is alive. So many possiblities!!!!

Still, I like our ideas better. ;D Darn straight I'm still on the fence on this one. It's like a Star Wars fan that I know once said about episode III, "I'm looking forward to it... but not really sure if what I'm feelin' is excitement."

I'm prepared to sit through two hours of crap to get to the "Lord Vader - rise!" scene. I dunno. I don't really read comics. Hellboy is really the only comic I'm into. I sometimes borrow Buffy and Angel books from my library. They're a good read.

:Pwhile on the topic of comics "ghostrider" is being made into a movie with the story centered around johnny blaze . with nicolas cage playing the lead role and the following characters involved. blackheart, mephisto, and possilbly caretaker. but as far as the angel comics to continue the adventure of angel and gang, im haging out for it, i wonder if the artist's will get it right

I know how he feels but hey. I'm prepared to sit through two hours of crap to get to the "Lord Vader - rise!" scene. Well, I read a synopsis of Ep III.... it's supposedly Lucas' 4th draft or something.... usually I'm quite skeptical about these things, but a) if the guy who wrote it isn't Lucas, he has Lucas' somewhat scatterbrained plot movements DOWN COLD, and b) the synopsis incorporates a lot of ideas I've seen floating around that are verified Lucas. Having read what's going to happen in a fair amount of detail, I can honestly say I'm looking forward to seeing it more than I was before. Some of the ways the story ties together with the Civil War trilogy are very well done, and this thing is so dark, it should make Empire look like a damn kiddie ride. In fact, in all likelihood, Sith will be the only Star Wars to get a PG-13 (this is from a statement made by Lucasfilm execs).

Gotta take this oportunity guys: If you're going to post spoilers then announce them clearly before it's too late! Sorry PTB, you didn't do anything wrong. It just popped into my mind while reading your post. Yeah, from what I've seen and read it sounds like there's a glimmer of hope that this one might actually satisfy the masses. Guess we'll have to wait and see huh?
