I really like the idea of the Powers losing control over Tobit. It would be pretty interesting to see what he would be like without that strain of having the Powers inside of him. And that would probably mean that Angel would lose contact with the Powers. Or maybe they're sending Tobit messages but he can't understand them. But Angel would be guideless, he'd have to fend for himself.
I'm starting to think that the effect of the soul-loss will probably be a gradual thing. It won't be like "Boom! Ya lost your soul so now you're evil" like it happens with Angel. It might be a bit slower with humans. Like at first they only feel weird, like they're missing a part of them. But then they gradually start becoming more and more evil. Like they're able to fight it at first but eventually the flow of evil wears them down.

Okay, so I've been thinking about what is it that the soul stealers do with the souls that they've stolen. And I recently got a kinda crazy idea.
It basically involves that demons, or at least certain demons, would want to be ensouled. I'm basically thinking that in some demon cultures a soul is considered a thing of great value. If you're one of the lucky few that are born with a soul in you then good for you, you're one step above the rest. But if you're one of those that don't have a soul then you're basically screwed. I'm thinking that it would be kind of like the Untouchables in India, people who from the moment of their birth to the moment of their death are considered inferior to others of their same race but can't do a single thing about it.
But along come the soul stealers who see a profit to be made here. They hit a world like ours, were beings with souls are the majority, steal a couple of hundred, then head to the Interdimensional Black Market. There they are met with a vast amount of souless demons. They don't see this as a form of "becoming good" or anything like that, for them what this is is a chance to escape their inferior lives and become a part of the elite. But of course things don't always go as advertised, there are always side effects. Many can't handle the burden of a soul, the strain that it involves, end up going mad or killing themselves. Others are able to go on living but rather than act as beings with a soul they fall back to their old customs, are once again evil. Only a small fraction really manage to become what they wanted, to have a soul and act like they have it.
Tear it to shreds.
