TEASER
EXT. ALLEY - NIGHT
It’s raining in Los Angeles. A CALM rain. No thunder. No lightning. Just a steady, thick rain. The alley we are looking directly down is dark, as is to be expected. The puddles are overflowing. And there are shadowy, UNMOVING shapes. We can only guess at what they are...
...and guess is all we shall do, for we are not interested in this normal, run-of-the-mill alleyway.
The camera moves slowly to the right and focuses on a window of an adjoining building.
It is dark inside. A YOUNG MAN stands at the window. He is in his 30s. His hair is blonde. His arms are crossed over a polo shirt. His hands are pale - no, white - he’s wearing tight, WHITE GLOVES.
And his eyes are closed. His expression, worried.
Suddenly, from the shadows behind him, a FEARSOME DEMON moves forward. The young man does not hear him approach.
The demon lifts his arm and places it gently on the man’s shoulder.
The young man opens his eyes slowly, blinks a few times as if he has dozed off. The demon leans in and whispers something into the young man’s ear.
We cannot hear him. The rain drowns out the sound.
The man reacts with shock. The demon retreats into the shadows. The man follows, and we follow him.
As he moves in front of us, we can barely make out that we are in some kind of OFFICE - a really messy office.
The demon and the man exit one room and enter another - a much LARGER room. The lights - if there are any - do not appear to be working. The room is lit by CANDLES. The many shadows make it difficult to make out anything significant. But there are things moving in the dark.
We are in a corridor now, and there are noises. Shouting. A cry of pain.
The young man begins to pick up speed.
More cries. Now we can make out some words:
VOICE (O.S) (muffled) On three! One!
The man and the demon hurry.
VOICE (O.S) (cont’d) Two!
There is something right in front of them - a DOOR!
VOICE (O.S) (cont’d) Three!
The man throws open the door.
TIGHT SHOT: A SWORD is violently ripped from a body.
REVERSE: The YOUNG MAN is splattered across the face with blood as he barges in.
ANGLE ON: ILLYRIA holding a bloody sword in front of her wet and dirty face. She GLOWERS at the intruder.
Lying a few feet away is SPIKE. His clothes are ripped, and he has a large, nasty CUT across his eye that is bleeding profusely.
Finally, slumped against some stone, with still another sword impaling him through the chest, is ANGEL. Two more bloody swords lay at his feet - presumably thrown there after being ripped out of him. He is bloody from head to toe.
The young man, raising a gloved hand to wipe away Angel’s blood, finally speaks:
YOUNG MAN So...how’s the weather out there in hell?
WIDE SHOT: Our three heroes stare back at him. They look like death.
BLACK OUT.

ACT ONE
INT. SHRINE - NIGHT
A note on the room: it is only lit by candles.
The image we are seeing is blurry and unstable. A figure approaches the camera.
ANGLE ON: Spike’s bloody face. He has blood in his eyes.
Back to the blurry picture. We are in Spike’s POV. The demon that was with the young man approaches.
Spike rises. He is confused and still in battle-mode. He puts on his vamp face, and charges the demon.
YOUNG MAN No! He’s here to help!
Illyria sneers at the young man. She makes a beeline for him.
YOUNG MAN (cont’d) I’m here to help. We’re here to help.
Illyria raises her sword.
YOUNG MAN (cont’d) Help!
The demon, who Spike has pinned against the wall, opens his mouth. His tongue shoots out and wraps around Illyria. She is thrown against the back wall.
All of this happens very fast.
The demon, tongue back in place, knocks Spike away.
ANGLE ON: A large, curved blade being pulled out of a leg.
Suddenly, the blade whistles through the air and strikes the demon in the head. He collapses to the floor.
There is silence.
YOUNG MAN (cont’d) (fuming) That wasn’t smart, Angel.
ANGEL (with a hint of his old Irish accent) Who the hell are you?
YOUNG MAN My name is Tobit.
Spike is rising from the floor. Illyria composes herself.
ANGEL (breathing hard) And you’re the big guns?
TOBIT The big-? Sorry, what?
ANGEL I really must have rankled a few feathers for the Senior Partners to call you in.
TOBIT What! No. I am not a Senior-
ANGEL And here I thought they’d burn me with cinders, boil my organs, and stick me with pitch forks. But no, not while Tobit’s an option.
TOBIT Angel, I am not a Senior Partner. (pointing to the ceiling) That portal you just came through...it was opened by The Powers That Be. (beat) They saved your life.
SPIKE Gunn. Where’s Gunn?
Illyria walks forward. She is staring at a point on the floor. She bends down and picks something up. As it comes into view, we see that is
A HAND. Gunn’s hand - severed below the elbow.
Tobit’s face falls.
Angel stares at the severed hand, expressionless.
ANGEL Illyria, hand me a sword.
Her hand reaches into view and violently rips the FINAL SWORD out of Angel’s chest. He only grimaces. He has numbed to the pain by now. Tobit gets another spatter of blood to the face.
She flips the weapon around and holds it out to Angel, handle first. Tobit wipes his face again. He looks scared now.
Angel takes a moment to catch his breath as the others stare. Finally, he scowls and grabs the sword.
ANGEL (cont’d) (barely audible) Back.
TOBIT What?
Angel uses the sword to pull himself to his feet.
ANGEL Back. Send me back.
TOBIT Where?
ANGEL The alley. The battle. Send me back. This fight isn’t over.
Angel limps toward Tobit. Tobit backs away.
TOBIT That’s not exactly true, Angel. The Powers-
ANGEL This fight isn’t over! It’s never over!
TOBIT (gravely) It would be. For you. You would die before-
Angel raises the sword. The tip now rests uncomfortably on Tobit’s throat.
Angel’s voice wavers - he is really dangerous now.
ANGEL I’m not asking again.
TOBIT (fast and desperate) Angel, I work for The Powers That Be. I’m your new conduit to them.
ANGEL Oh yeah? Well, here’s a vision from me: This sword plunging through the top of your head! Send me back!
Angel presses harder.
TOBIT (wincing) You won, Angel! (Angel pauses) Do you know what that means? (beat) If there’s ever a time NOT to sever your ties with the Powers That Be - and I mean literally as well as figuratively - that time is now. (then slower) There are challenges ahead far greater than any apocalypse, far bigger than any evil law firm. (beat) And you’re needed to face them.
ANGLE ON: The pain in Angel’s eyes.
ANGLE ON: The fear in Tobit’s
TOBIT (cont’d) Please...
Tobit reaches up and places his hand on the sword. He slowly lowers it.
TOBIT (cont’d) You stand on a field of victory, Angel. (then) How’s that for a nightmare?
Angel’s sword is lowered.
TOBIT (cont’d) I’m sorry things happened this way. I’m sorry about Gunn. I’m sorry we weren’t sooner. The Powers-
ANGEL Turned their back on my friend.
TOBIT They do what’s best for this world. They keep it in balance. If you’re still needed, then they don’t let you die.
SPIKE And if you’re not? Then people like Gunn get the royal buggering?
ILLYRIA And Wesley? Of what consequence was his life?
TOBIT It was their time.
ANGEL Who are the Powers to decide when it is somebody’s time!
TOBIT (shakes his head) They don’t. Believe it or not, Angel, the Powers have a master, too, and it’s called fate. Gunn was beyond their reach. You weren’t. It’s harsh, and I’m sorry.
Angel looks tired and defeated.
TOBIT (cont’d) Things are really messed up right now, and you messed them up. (beat) But that’s good. What you did...what you’ve done...has changed everything. (beat, as if he can barely fathom it) You won, Angel. You won.
ANGEL (turning away with scowl) What did I win?
Angel swings the sword wildly across the room. He collapses with the effort.
TOBIT Let me show you.

INT. DEMON SHELTER/COMMON AREA - DAY
Tobit leads the beaten and limping heroes into a large room. It is only lit by the sun streaming through the windows.
TOBIT Welcome to Casa del Dios Caído.
ANGEL House of the Fallen God.
SPIKE He’s not the only one falling.
Spike’s feet give out, but before he can sag to the floor, Illyria catches him.
SPIKE (cont’d) Thanks, love.
ANGEL What is this place?
TOBIT It’s a homeless shelter.
Angel, Spike, and Illyria look about the Common Area. The room is filled with
TOBIT (cont’d) For demons.
Demons. Of all different species, tribes, and tentacles. They sit at long tables, eating. A TELEVISION SET is turned on in one corner of the room. At the opposite end, there is a long line of demons in front of a buffet. A stocky, jolly OLD FEMALE DEMON serves them various disturbing spoonfuls of God-knows-what.
The demons in line stare at the bloody heroes.
The front of the Casa del Dios Caído has two glass doors. Light streams through them. A demon sits next to the entrance.
They walk and talk.
SPIKE A homeless shelter? The Powers That Be dumped us in a bleeding homeless shelter?
ANGEL Kind of fitting, if you think about it.
They pass by a BEEFY DEMON eating at a table. He grabs Tobit’s arm.
BEEFY DEMON Hey Tobey, what’s with the mysticized Kluh loins today? I can barely taste the fell.
TOBIT You’re not supposed to taste the fell, Jake. That’s why they take it out.
JAKE Take it out? What kind of operation are you running here?
TOBIT The kind that feeds you for free. Listen, you got a problem with the food, take it up with Lyrica.
A high-pitched woman’s voice slices through the air from behind the food buffet. It is the OLD FEMALE DEMON serving the food.
We cut between Angel, Spike and Illyria as they witness the below confrontation in fatigued confusion.
LYRICA (screaming) Is that Jake?
TOBIT You better believe it!
LYRICA Is it the fell again? He’s always going on about the fell!
JAKE (screaming back at her) Where the hell is the fell?
LYRICA Oh Be-el-zebub! Tell him I hope he starves!
She breaks into a jolly but ear-splitting peal of laughter at her own joke.
TOBIT Hear that, Jake? Lyrica’s not too happy with you.
JAKE (turning away) Yeah, thanks a billion, Tobes.
Tobit turns back to our heroes, who stare at him.
TOBIT (as if this explains everything) My friends call me Tobes...or Tobey.
He is met with icy silence. Tobit starts walking again. They follow.
TOBIT (cont’d) I don’t expect you to take in all of this in one go, but the Powers chose this place for a reason, Angel. They chose to bring you here for a reason. And there’s a reason they picked me to be your guide.
ANGEL You keep talking about it, but I don’t hear you providing one.
TOBIT They want you here. This is where the helpless are now. These demons - they can’t be taken to the hospital. They don’t qualify for welfare. They don’t have politicians fighting for them in office. As far as the majority of the world is concerned, these demons don’t exist.
They now stand near the exit.
ANGEL As far as I’m concerned, that’s not my problem. Thanks for showing us to the exit.
Angel shoulders past Tobit and makes for the door.
TOBIT (after him) And many of them are now here because of what you did.
Our champion stops short. Blocking his way is a large cluster of demons.
They are grey of skin. Their two horns are snapped off, and they are naked but for tattered cloths about their waists. They are - were - SLAVES. The kind we last saw living under the ruthless hand of ARCHDUKE SEBASSIS. They stare at Angel in wonder.
ILLYRIA Angel made them homeless? I fail to see any reason to panegyrize such actions.
SPIKE That makes two of us- (to Illyria) -and what?
TOBIT For some, this place is better than anything they had before.
And the slaves snap into action. They are weak and their movements are shaky. But they are determined. They grab GLASSES, jars, cups off of the tables - taking them away from other demons that were using them. And they crowd around Angel.
HERO SHOT: Angel, arms in the air, surrounded, pawed at by the slaves he freed.
They uncork their wrists by any means - pulling with their hands, their TEETH - until their blue blood flows freely and the glasses fill. They hold their offerings out to Angel. Who is he to resist?
Well, he’s Angel - temptation’s last great nemesis. He is uncomfortable and terribly embarrassed.
ANGEL What? No. No, really.
A slave thumps a hand against Angel’s chest.
ANGEL (cont’d) (wincing) Ah. Okay, watch the chest. Really, I’m flattered, but no thank you. Tobit!
The slaves groan with desperation.
ANGEL (cont’d) What are they doing?
TOBIT I think they’re thanking you.
ANGEL Yeah, well, do they have to keep dripping like that?
TOBIT You killed Archduke Sebassis, Angel - the blood leader of the Blut’Fehds, one of the most powerful and ruthless demon families in this dimension and any other.
SPIKE So what? The system just broke down and now all the little buggers are free?
TOBIT Word traveled fast through the underworld. Sebassis controlled 40 legions in any number of dimensions. Now there’s in-fighting between the family. The hierarchy is breaking down. (beat) They’ve been pouring in for the last hour.
ANGEL The pouring is the biggest problem I’m having with them right now.
A slave manages to push a glass up to Angel’s lips. The slave bares his teeth. His eyes are wide - as if urging Angel to drink.
The vampire pushes it away.
ANGEL (cont’d) I’m honored. Really. But- I don’t drink blood...any blood.
Finally, a little more aggressive, Angel extracts himself from the melee.
The slaves turn away, disappointed.
TOBIT Do you understand now?
ANGEL What? Understand what?
TOBIT You won.
ANGEL (frustrated) Yeah - no! You keep saying that! I don’t even know what it means.
TOBIT It means these slaves are free. It means Wolfram & Hart has collapsed. It means you went eye to eye with the beast and they blinked first.
ANGEL (he’s not listening) I have bodies to collect. (as he stares at Tobit) Spike, Illyria...
SPIKE No rest for the restless.
They turn and head for the glass doors.
TOBIT Angel- (sighs) Fine. Go. It’s a beautiful day. The rain is gone. The sky has cleared. The sun is-
He is ignored as Angel, Spike, and Illyria limp away - directly into the SUNLIGHT streaming through the windows.
TOBIT (cont’d) -painful...
Angel and Spike leap back in pain. They fall to the floor, and they don’t seem to want to get up.
SPIKE (groaning) I really took that necro-tempering for granted.
ANGEL Yeah, that was pretty cool.
ILLYRIA You require rest.
TOBIT She’s right. You’re bleeding badly - both of you.
Illyria puts her hand out and Spike takes it. She lifts him with some effort - effort that flusters her.
ANGLE ON: Tobit extending his white, gloved hand.
TOBIT (cont’d) Angel?
Angel stares at the hand for a moment, then turns on his side and lifts himself to his feet. He’s all business.
ANGEL (with an icy stare at Tobit) We’ll heal. Won’t we, Spike?
SPIKE (seeing the tension between them) Uh...yeah. Any moment now.
ANGEL Where’s your sewer access?

INT. DEMON SHELTER/ANOTHER ROOM - DAY
Spike falls heavily onto a cot. Angel groans and stumbles into another. The room is lit only by candles and any light that escapes through the sheet covering the window.
ANGEL I think he was lying about there being no sewer access.
SPIKE (already half asleep) As of this moment...I don’t bloody care.
ANGEL One of us should stay awake. I don’t trust this place. (then) Illyria...
There is a loud thump to Spike’s right.
ANGEL (cont’d) Illyria?
WIDE ANGLE: Illyria is on her back, her eyes shut. The three each have a cot of their own. Spike in the middle.
ANGEL (cont’d) (fading away) One of us should stay awake. One of us should...This isn’t...it’s not over...the senior partners...
He is almost gone. Then suddenly, he grunts - a laugh.
SPIKE What?
ANGEL (a smile spreading) We did it. We won.
And with that pleasant and unexpected thought, he falls asleep.
CUT TO:
INT. DEATH CHAMBER - DAY
The loudest roar we have ever heard.
ARCHDUKE SEBASSIS lies on a stone slab shaped to fit his body. We are in his death chamber - a round, pillared room made of stone. Frescoes of past dukes decorate the wall.
Two massive GUARDS stand at the head of the Archduke’s death bed.
ANGLE ON: Three slaves are backed up against a fresco of Sebassis. They are terrified of whatever is roaring.
A wider angle reveals someone else in the room. He is large - very large. He wears black armor. A sword and a large knife are at his side. But instead of two horns like the Archduke, he has four - a pair on each side of his head.
This is the MARGRAVE BAGONDE. And he is bellowing.
He ceases and approaches the stone bed. He talks with a loud, booming voice.
MARGRAVE Sebassis...Archduke, blood patriarch of the noble Blut’Fehds. Your death roar echoes - it shakes the very hearts of your kin. (he kneels in front of Sebassis, softer now) And though I cannot count myself among their ranks - though my blood as you so often reminded me is...weak...it now boils at the treachery that has usurped your throne. That has...
The Margrave’s throat constricts, and he holds back tears.
MARGRAVE (cont’d) That has brought your reign to an end. Now your legions are at war with one another. Your great house is in ruins. (beat) And your blood...
The Margrave whips out a curved blade and plunges it into the Archduke’s neck. The hilt of the blade is open and the Archduke’s blood proceeds to flow through the blade and out the hilt - and onto the floor. The blood is a dark shade of blue - darker than we are used to seeing. It is perhaps indicative of the poison’s effect.
The slaves cower in the corner.
MARGRAVE (cont’d) Your blood... (his lip curls in anger) ...is tainted!
He rips the blade out of the Archduke’s neck. He is pissed. Seriously. He snaps his head around to glare at the slaves.
They back against the wall.
MARGRAVE (cont’d) Yet it will not fail to send a message...to the vampire...
BLACK OUT.

I've had people like that over at Monster Zero too, would you believe.
However! I do have a few people who can't write a coherent post to save their lives but have some amazing ideas and their scripts, while rough around the edges and in need of muchos formatting, inevitably are actually quite good!

Monster Zero - count yourself lucky. Diamonds in the rough are rare.
I have a question (late, but still ...) - how do we format the action that takes place? Like describing the actors or what?
Any hint would be appreciated.

I not quite sure what you mean, Liza. Maybe something like this from a little fanfic I wrote. Don't worry about the characters, it doesn't really matter.
The woman turns. She's dressed completely in black. From her long black coat to her black boots. She has a calmness in her eyes despite what she has just done. Scott notices the samuri sword on her back.
SCOTT Put your hands up, lady
She does so. The wind blows her long dark hair from her face. It reveals her delicate features. She puts her hands up.
Despite innocent looks there is something deep in her eyes. They have a look Scott recognises the look of a killer. But there is something more there. Something which causes him to hesitate.
The woman is completely impassive. She shows no expression at all. She edges toward the edge of the roof.
SCOTT Stop. Hold it right there.
But she just steps off the roof a vanishes from sight.
SCOTT No!
He rushes to the edge and looks over. But there's nothing there. She's gone.
BTW this was taken from the teaser if the opening episode and Jessie (the mystery woman) has just killed a man (later shown to be a demon) by throwing him off the roof.
I tend to get a little descriptive about characters. Hope this will help.

We are now accepting submissions and will continue to accept them until every single episode of our season has a confirmed writer. So yes, we are accepting submissions pretty much at all times.
One thing I forgot to mention. If you are sending the submission to me you have to send it to the username admin. If you send it to Joss it'll just be lost in limbo for all eternity. If you are sending them to Drew or to inyan you just send the PM to Drew or inyan respectively.
