Book - 'Spares' by Michael Marshall Smith. excellent new british sci-fi writer. an obvious lover of William Gibson, he writes near future scenarios with a bit of everything - surreal humour, film noir, plenty of cat jokes - he rocks.
Movie - 'Saw.' Yes, it's kind of like 'Seven' on a budget, yes some of Cary Elwes' acting leaves a lot to be desired, but my gosh this film had me jumping in places. Awesome soundtrack courtesy of Nine Inch Nails' Charlie Clouser, and a genuinely inventive ending that'll have you smiling ^_^
Hate That Song On The Radio - 'The Reason' by Hoobastank. nyurgh! not only did i get plagued by this neo-grunge radio friendly pap earlier this year, but for some unfathomable reason they've decided to re-release it! grr. arg.

book- interview with a vampire. this book was crazy, but crazy in a good way. i thought it was excellent. i never saw the movie so i wanted to read the book before i saw the movie. turns out the movie is just like the book except they changed the ending, anyways beside the point the book was awesome!
movie-underworld. this movie is cool. the action scenes are great. the way the werewolves tranform is the greatest!kate beckinsale knows how to kick ass!
hated that song-"girls not grey" from afi. it the stupidest song i have ever heard! what's the point of it. i mean the music sucked real bad. i agree with monster zero, "the reason" sucked ass!

Book: "The Dark Tower VII: The Dark Tower" by Stephen King. I've read the entire Stephen King collection, and have been impressed with how, ultimately, all of his books connect in some way to the saga of the Dark Tower. This final book brings all of those connections to a head in some very unexpected ways. I'm only 250 pages in (it's 800 pages), and already some main characters (including villains) have bit the dust; my GOD I'm looking forward to the ending! If you like sci-fi, if you like horror, if you like fantasy, if you like westerns, and if you'd really like to see what happens when you blend all four, you owe it to yourself to read this series now!
Movie(s): Star Wars Episodes I, II, IV, V, and VI. I got the original trilogy boxed set on DVD, so I could check out the extras and new tweaks to the films, and I'm very happy I did. They fixed all the niggling continuity problems I was having: Jabba doesn't look messed-up in New Hope anymore, the Emperor is now played by the same guy through the whole series, and Christian Hayden is now the ghost of Anakin at the end of Jedi. I watched all the available films straight through, and I was amazed at how the perspective has changed; this is no longer the story of Luke, but of Anakin, and the tragedy of wanting to control what cannot be controlled, and ultimately being consumed by your own weaknesses.
Song that drives me nuts: "My Prerogative" by Britney Spears. The original was ridiculously annoying and repetitive, and I actively boycotted it back in the day. So of course the poster child for blond bimbo decided it needed to be unleashed on an unwitting public yet again.

i'm not going to get started on Hayden Christiensen's 'guest' appearance in Return Of The Jedi and how it makes no damn sense whatsoever...

book - 'Hell's Angels' by Hunter S. Thompson. The gonzo journalist behind 'Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas' spends a few weeks hanging out with the notorious Hell's Angels biker gang at the height of their fame in the late 60s, when they were banned from entire towns and spurred on to greater levels of antagonism just to wind up the people harassing them...
movie - 'Devil Fish' as screened via Mystery Science Theatre 3000. I love MST3K with a passion, and when they get a film like this to work with, about an escaped genetic experiment terrorising the waves of Florida, then the team really hit their stride.
still not seen one to beat Space Mutiny yet, tho ^_^
hate that song on the radio - 'leave (get out) by JoJo. you're thirteen bloody years old! what the hell do you know about anything?!?! and why are you trying to dress like a sex object in the video? argh! get out!

First: MST3K RULES!!!
Personal faves: Pumaman, Mitchell, Parts, and anything with Ben Murphy
Second: The Hayden Christiansen "guest" kinda confused me at first, until I realized that the "Jedi ghost" is basically a projection of one's human essence. Since Anakin became "more machine... than man" when he became Vader, it makes sense that his Jedi ghost would be his form when he was last human, i.e. how he looked at the end of Revenge of the Sith.

and GREEDO STILL SHOOTS FIRST!! what is up with that?! I think Lucus is just being politically correct. The good guy must have a "reason" to kill someone. Pfft. Like any of us think less of Han Solo if he shoots first. I'm still annoyed over "He could use a good kiss." being taken out in Empire. And I don't even want to think about Han standing on Jabba's tail. It's like that James Cameron moment in Dark Angel's Freak Nation where the old, wobbly, nerd comes stampeding to the rescue like Steve Austin, complete with slow-motion and creaky sound effects. It's just wrong.

Good book:
Life of Pi by Yann Martell. Funny, sad, poignant. I heard it is being made into a movie by M. Night Shyamalan. I'm not sure how he'd be able to pull it off though.
Good movie:
I think the last good movie I watched was Spiderman 2. I've been having Farscape marathons instead of watching movies.
Current hated songs on the radio:
It's a three-way tie. Gareth Gate's Anyone of us, Britney Spears Everytime or that Invisible song by D-Side. Lyrically challenged, squeaky and creepy - these words could apply to all.

The end of the Farscape movie is incredible! The first part seems a bit rushed (well, this was supposed to be an entire season compressed into 4 hours), but the end is amazing. I've always said that Buffy and Angel were the greatest love ever portrayed on television, but John and Aeryn come in a very, very close second.

angel and buffy will always be the greatest love ever potrayed on TV. anyways, i saw the movie Van Helsing ( i don't know if i spelled it right) with Kate beckinsale and hugh jackman. the movie was good. i liked the actor who portrayed Dracula, he thought he a pretty decent job. the special effects were awesome. dracula's brides were pretty cool. i think that when they tranformed into human sized bats , that was great!

It had lots of cool moments but could have been better. The characters could stand another movie or two yet, tho, so they should definitely look into giving us another movie with them! They deserve another chance!

I caught some episodes during first season and now am watching the first season DVD set, and I just have to tell everyone to please watch the second season premiere episode of "Arrested Development" on Fox this Sunday. It is one of the greatest shows I've ever seen. Absolutely hilarious. It's a sitcom, but it can barely be called that - just like Sports Night could barely be called a sitcom. Think "The Simpsons" crossed with "Family Guy" crossed with Reality TV (except "AD" is live-action" and tightly scripted).
Anyway, check out season 2 this sunday and buy season 1 on DVD. A good time will be had, I promise you that.
I'm gonna end all my posts that way tonight.
